Project Overview

A client approached us with a proof-of-concept request: could we build a tool that eliminates one of the most repetitive tasks in Revit — manual creation of elevations, sections, and plans?

The answer was yes. And it went far beyond a simple proof of concept.

Views for Revit is a Revit add-in that automates the entire view generation workflow. Instead of manually setting up each elevation or section one by one, engineers and architects define the rules once — and the plugin handles the rest.

The Challenge

BIM teams spend a disproportionate amount of time on view creation — a task that is critical for documentation but adds no design value. The typical workflow involves:

• Manually placing elevation markers and section lines for each room or space
• Adjusting crop regions, depths, and margins one view at a time
• Renaming and organizing views according to company standards
• Placing views on sheets — again, manually

For large projects with dozens or hundreds of rooms, this process consumes hours of skilled BIM engineers' time every week.
